To simplify the care process, it is important to have the proper tools on hand. If you are caring for Human Hair Prosthetic Wigs or Augment Systems, you will need a canvas block head, a block holder, and T-Pins.

For maintaining optimal hair health, we recommend using X-TRA CARE Shampoo, X-TRA CARE Conditioner, X-TRA CARE Gel, X-TRA CARE Styling Spray, and a Professional Cushioned Paddle Brush.

 To care for Studio Hair® Wig/Hair Systems made of human hair, it is best to use the recommended products listed above. Avoid using products that contain oils, waxes, silicon, or parabens for the best results.

Our wigs are made of the highest quality human hair, and with proper care, they can provide you with many enjoyable wears. To get the maximum life-span and performance from your wig, follow the instructions below. Our human hair prosthetics come uncut, so have your stylist cut it to perfection while ensuring it is positioned properly during the haircut. There are adjustment straps at the back nape to adjust the fit, and the front of the wig should sit where your natural hairline would be. There are two points, one on each side, that should sit in the same spot on each side. Roll those points inward. Human hair wigs must be trimmed and styled when taken out of the box.

To wash the wig, carefully brush it out to remove any tangles using a cushioned paddle brush with ball-tipped nylon pins. Plastic brushes can be rigid and have seams that can damage the knots and base. Never use bristle or wire brushes. Hold your wig from thetop inside front, never submerge it. Apply shampoo then followed by conditiomer working each evenly from the top and then evenly through the ends. 

You can also hold the wig or hair system in your hand and use the sprayer on your sink. Put shampoo in the palm of your hand and work through the hair evenly, again, always going in one direction. Rinse well with cool water. Repeat this step using your conditioner, working it evenly throughout the hair and ends but not the roots. Once a month, use a deep conditioner following the same steps.

 The same process is used for augment pieces and toppers

Lay the wig on a clean towel and gently press out the excess water. Place it back on a canvas block head, making sure it is centered and pin it down to your canvas head using T-pins or mini small head pins, making sure not to go through any skin or top lace areas.

If it is a partial hair system with comb locks, pin it down through the comb locks. While wet, brush through the hair gently and make your parting in the desired spot using a comb if needed. Apply your styling aid, such as Studio Hair® XTRA GEL Mousse, by working it evenly through the hair, right through the ends.

Gel is needed to protect the hair and seal the cuticle.

Brush it again and let it air dry completely to keep the hair soft and silky. Once dry, brush through the wig or hair system. Excessive heat will dry out the hair.
